Ingredients

  • 14 oz firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or peanut)

Steps

  1. Begin by pressing the tofu for at least 30 minutes to remove excess moisture. Cut into bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, ginger, and garlic.
  3. Marinate the tofu cubes in the mixture for at least 15 minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  5. Remove tofu from marinade and coat each piece in the cornstarch mixture, ensuring an even layer.
  6. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, enough to cover the bottom.
  7. Add the coated tofu cubes to the hot oil in batches, frying for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Transfer cooked tofu onto paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
